How do ASHP work?

Air source heat pumps (ASHPs) exploit the principle of heat transfer. Even in cold air, there's some amount of heat energy present. An ASHP absorbs this heat from the outside air into a fluid at a low temperature. This fluid then passes through a compressor, where its temperature increases.

Once compressed, the now-warmed fluid is transferred to the heating and hot water circuits of a building, providing warmth. In summer, the process can be reversed, allowing the ASHP to function as an air conditioner by removing heat from inside the building and releasing it outside, thus cooling the interior space.

What are the benefits

of ASHP?

Air source heat pumps offer numerous benefits that make them an appealing choice for many homeowners and businesses. They are energy-efficient, often reducing electricity usage for heating by up to 50% compared to traditional systems, leading to lower energy bills. Being environmentally friendly, they produce fewer carbon emissions than fossil fuel-based heating systems, helping in the global effort to combat climate change.

Their versatility is also notable, as they can both heat and cool spaces, ensuring comfort year-round. Furthermore, their design requires minimal maintenance, and with advancements in technology, many modern units operate quietly. This combination of cost savings, environmental benefits, and user convenience positions air source heat pumps as a forward-thinking solution for sustainable heating and cooling needs.
